ABSTRACT:
Remote office backup and recovery is a hot topic right now and for good reason.
Remote offices typically have no staff or few staff in place to manage backups and recoveries - or the staff on hand may not have the needed expertise. Therefore, remote solutions need to be simple.
There are a number of approaches to backing up and recovering data in remote locations, including:
- Build a backup/recovery infrastructure (disk, tape, etc.) at each location and staff accordingly
- Keep some infrastructure in place, consolidate, simplify, and take backup/recovery functions out of the hands of on-site staff
- Remove the backup/recovery infrastructure completely and centralize functions utilizing WAFS, WAN accelerators, or caching
